The development comprised:

• New Administration Building
• New Warehouse Building
• Covered Vehicle Storage Area
• Vehicle Wash Bay
• Transformer and materials storage bays

Challenge Faced / Engineering Problem Solved:

• Existence of un-mapped mine workings required detailed assessment
• Variable founding conditions and large mine subsidence ground strains required sliding bearing pads and compressible material around footings
• Design of the public road connection to the Weakleys Drive roundabout required modelling of manoeuvring paths of 30m long “Jinker” trucks, coordination with the RMS to ensure their road safety requirements were satisfied
