The development comprised:

• 2 x single storey and 1 x 2 storey classroom buildings
• Sports Hall including Stage and Storage areas
• Covered ways and Shelters

Challenge Faced / Engineering Problem Solved:

• Variable founding depths required detailed foundation and pile assessment
• Limitation of shear walls to enable open plan learning spaces
• High corrosivity due to coastal exposure

Construction systems used included:

• Building supported on steel screw piles
• Continuously reinforced stiffened waffle pod ground slabs
• Proprietary concrete formwork for shear walls and deep lintel beams
• Conventionally reinforced concrete suspended slabs and beams
• Structural steel framed roof.
