MPC’s services for this development involved design and documentation of a multi-storey commercial retail and apartment building along with a stand-alone multi-deck carpark. The following structural design services were completed by MPC:
• Basement slab design accounted for hydrostatic pressure using continuously reinforced slabs in conjunction with a proprietary tanking system underneath the slab;
• Post-tension slab and beam design was chosen to limit concrete quantities and maximise head heights for both the apartments and carpark. The multi deck carpark also incorporates watertight post-tension slabs so as to eliminate any trafficable membrane,
• The multi-deck carpark required the allowance for a future 2 floors. Foundations and earthquake resisting systems were designed to support and resist future loadings.
