MPC Consulting Engineers were engaged by Anglican Care to provided civil engineering design services for the proposed aged care facility. The proposed development is to be constructed on a site of approximately 35000m2, which is located in a newly developed residential subdivision. MPC were required to provided site analysis and stormwater modeling for development application purposes. Site harvesting and detention facilities were detailed to satisfy the requirements of Lake Macquarie City Councils Development Control Plans for all storms up to the 1 in 100 year event. Site harvesting included approximately 300000 litres of rainwater tanks for re-use in toilet and laundry facilities, plus approximately 180000 litres is to be retained from rainwater falling on hardstand areas. This water is proposed to be collected and used for irrigation purposes after filtering using a combination of off-line sediment facilities, and in-line proprietary pollution control systems. Due to the sloping site terrain, a detailed site level analysis was carried out in conjunction with project architects, to ensure that concept stormwater works would not incur flooding of buildings proposed on the lower portion of the site.
