Derek has 16 years experience in structural and civil engineering with design and
supervision experience in a range of projects, from residential to large commercial
and institutional projects.Recently Derek has provided design and management expertise
for the Lee Wharf Developments and Hunter Water Corporation at Newcastle’s Honeysuckle
along with managing the design and documentation of the Charlestown Square Redevelopment
External works packages for Bovis Lend Lease. Derek previously worked with
Low & Hooke (Aust) acting as Director of the Newcastle office prior to starting
MPC Consulting Engineers in 2001 in the role of Managing Director.

Peter has 19 years experience in structural and civil engineering with design and
supervision experience in a large range of projects, from residential to large commercial
and institutional projects. Amongst Peter’s recent developments, he provided
design, documentation and construction phase management services for the Silk House
Development at No. 200 Hunter Street Newcastle, located in the Hunter Street Mall
opposite David Jones. Peter’s previous experience includes Branch Manager
of Hughes Trueman Reinhold and the role of senior engineer with Low & Hooke (Aust).

Benjamin Curran

Ben has approximately 11 years of experience in investigation and design of civil
and structural engineering projects in the areas of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry
and timber design of defence, institutional, commercial, industrial, equine, residential,
civil and marine structures.Ben has extensive experience in modelling and design
of multi-storey buildings for wind and earthquake actions, including the Lee Wharf
Development and Hunter Water Corporation Building on the Newcastle foreshore. Recent
industrial projects include structural analysis and design of lifting lugs, lifting
beams and lifting procedures for the NCIG Newcastle Coal Terminal construction works.
Ben has provided expert witness services for a number of engineering-related legal
matters, and has prepared many engineering investigation reports for insurance-related
damage claims. Prior to joining MPC, Ben was as a Structural Design Engineer
for the GHD Pty Ltd Newcastle office.

Matthew has over 4 years of experience in structural and civil engineering with design and supervision experience in a range of projects, from residential to large commercial and institutional projects. Recently Matthew has extensive experience in modelling and design of multi-storey building for wind and earthquake actions, including Honeysuckle Central Development and PineTree Lane Terrigal Developent. Recent projects include the structural design and management of the new $11m HealthOne facility located at Raymond Terrace and the structural and civil design of the new Ausgrid facility at Singleton.

Through these projects he has gained extensive experience in conceptual and detailed structural analysis and design, construction methodology and site works. Matthews involvement in all key stages of major projects, from development to delivery, allows him to deliver integrated and fully coordinated structural engineering solutions to the client. Matthew has worked in design and construction across a number of sectors including industrial, commercial, residential, rail, road, temporary works, mining and electrical infrastructure.
