A rail impact assessment and risk analysis for an adjacent
railway was incorporated into the project and reviewed by
MPC to satisfy the Rail Corridor Infrastructure Corporation.
The chosen structural solution included continuously reinforced
tanked basement slabs, precast articulated basement walls
and a concrete framing system providing a ductile structure
for earthquake design and rail impact.
Post tensioned concrete floor slabs for the upper levels
were chosen to achieve the required large spans of 12m. This
arrangement assisted in minimising foundation loads, proving
beneficial in the piled raft assessment.
